* On May 29th 2008 Tropical Storm Alma was born just off the coast of Nicaragua in the Pacific. It moved inland, crossing Nicaragua, briefly losing strength, before moving over the water of the Western Caribbean between Honduras and Belize. Regaining strength, the storm was renamed Arthur on May 31st. The first named storm in the Pacific in 2008 and the first named storm in the Atlantic in 2008 was in fact, the same storm. |
